Helping your family fly the friendly skies!

helping your family fly the friendly skies

Legacy Navigation had another amazing opportunity this week to assist one of the sweetest souls in her journey to live closer to family in Idaho.  While our company’s focus has been primarily Medicaid Planning, we pride ourselves in the capability of being flexible and filling the need regardless of what that is.

We have unintentionally been pretty quiet in the past about our ability to assist with transporting patients but have come to understand what a huge need this is in our current times and wanted to share our experiences with you in a different way. Legacy Navigation has had the pleasure of driving clients to many cities within the State of Idaho,  taken a handful roadtrips with clients outside of state lines, been companions during flights, and mostly, tried to accommodate the needs of families at a less expensive solution than traditional transport options.

When our clients hire us for transport, Legacy Navigation provides case management from door to door.  We arrange all transport whether that be ground or air or both.  Our Case Management covers medications, medical records, and coordination from one home to the next.  Our goal is to take all the work and worry off our clients and families shoulders.  Our clients are cared for by an RN and MSW through the entire process.  Below is a quick layout of what this most recent trip looked like:

Brooke and Jessica flew to California the day before transport to Idaho.  Upon arrival, they met at the facility to ensure all coordination was complete and introduce ourselves to the staff and to the client to ensure her comfort with us the following day.  At this time, we also made sure to double check medications for comfort and for travel.  (There had been many emails and phone calls with the family and facilities prior to our arrival.) With all things in place, we double checked our ground transportation for the following day and settled in for the night.  The next morning, we arrived at the facility an hour early to make sure our client had something on her stomach and was comfortable and clean and ready to get on her flight.

Like clockwork, the transportation company arrived to provide wheelchair transport to the airport.  Airport check in was smooth and the airline staff was incredibly accommodating and kind.  We do fly first class with our clients for the added room and comfort.  At the airport, we ensured the clients incontinent care was provided and any medications needed were administered.  The flight home was smooth and our client was comfortable and happy.  (We try to pack their favorite snacks and provide water bottles and blankets for comfort).  Upon arrival home, the facility provided transport from the airport and we arrived just in time for our client, accompanied by her family, to enjoy some dinner in her new place.  Legacy Navigation worked to ensure all questions were answered regarding diet, medications, and care needs before leaving the facility.
